This thesis has tried to introduce the 2006 Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk and his creations, and analyze the aim and the artistic expression of his writings, based on his 8 novels which have been published. His biographical fiction"Istanbul:Memories of a City"could be considered as the clue of understanding his other fictions for us, which has recorded his life experience and the cerebration of his creations. All of Pamuk's fictions have referred to the conflict between western culture and eastern culture represented by Turkey. Pamuk is increasingly worried that the invasion of western culture has threaten the national tradition of Turkey. And he has began to think about the identity of national culture under the influence of western modernization. Orhan Pamuk has tried to reconcile the binary oppositions between western and eastern, and he argues that neither western nor eastern exists, and human could communicate and integrate with each other because of their commonality. He prefers communication to opposition, and in his opinion, Turkey culture should be developed only based on its own tradition to preserve the national culture and create a great art indeed. According to the fictions of Pamuk, he organically combines the arts between western and eastern literatures, and has formed a mixed art. It makes his narrative expression plentiful and colorful and reaches a fantastic effect and a special narrative style of Pamuk's own. And the multiplicity of his narrative expression has symbolized the themes of culture Pluralism in his fictions.
