Compared with the early works, children's fictions show a new development trend in 1930s and 1940s,which not only in the translation, but also reflected in the creations of local writers. In the translation, children's fictions of this period continue the direction of the late Qing Dynasty and the "May Fourth Movement" on the theme, which including adventure, education, growth, suffering and so on.But the translation about the war increased, which is rarely appeared in the late Qing Dynasty,so do works about the sufferings and politics.During the late Qing Dynasty and the modern era,Europe has been the dominated source language country, but the internal proportion changed in 1930s and 1940s,which changed from England and France to Soviet Union. The characters of poor orphan children still exist, but they no longer wait for help but find a way out on their own.In the local creation, Children's fictions of this period accept the impact of realism and tend to show the revolution and real life in the works. The character change from poor guys to heors and they are given a political identity. Even in the children's fictions with less political factors, the writers also found another way to focus on real life. such as Zhang Tianyi and Ling Shuhua, whose works are different from the mainstream.Children's fictions of 1930s and 1940s present the trend of realism. From the differences with Late Qing Dynasty and the "May Fourth Movement" development trend in creation and translation,we can find the change of source countries, subjects and characters, and these variations are due to realistic factors, especially political factors. The utilitarian view on children and children's literature mainly impact the creations and make them more realistic.Children's fictions of 1930s and 1940s are not typical realism. There are some limitations in the shaping the characters and expression of ideas. This kind of creation trend, which involve reality and politics in the children's fictions, has made a far-reaching impact on the creations after liberation.
