Based on the traditional Confucian moral education thoughts, this paper leads to sort out the history and main representatives of the important thoughts, the goal of moral education, core content and teaching methods, then explore its value in contemporary family education and put it forward. At present, it is rare to combine the traditional Confucian moral education thoughts and family education in China, which is a major innovation of this paper.There are five main parts in this paper. The first part is the reason and significance of the topic, mainly from the importance and necessity of inheriting the traditional Confucian moral education thoughts in international world, domestic world and family. The second part leads to sort out the history and main representatives of the important thoughts. In Pre-Qin Period, including Confucius' moral education thought of the benevolence and etiquette, Mencius' expanding moral education thought and Xuncius' moral education thought of the divides of nature and morals. In the period of two Han, Sui and Tang dynasties, the representative is DognZhongshu, whose moral education thoughts including Confucian politics and etiquette. In Song and Ming dynasty, the representative is ZhuXi, whose moral education thoughts including the theoretical basis, objectives, content and training methods of moral education. The third part analyzes the role and the checkered history of family education in the inheritance of traditional culture. The fourth part explores the value of traditional Confucian moral education thoughts in contemporary family education. The value contains two parts, theoretical value and ethical value. As for theoretical value, it mainly refers to ethnical value, which can contribute to family harmony, good family traditions and family ethics. Ethical value is mainly from the aspects of moral education, family education goal, enrich family education content and the improvement of family education methods. The fifth part explores inheritance Countermeasures of traditional Confucian moral education thoughts in contemporary family education. Combining the traditional Confucian moral thoughts contemporary family education, take advantages of family, parent school and society.
