It is known that medical system plays an essential role in society for it ensures the security of public health. As a burgeoning therapy method in medical science, interventional therapy, though with a history of 30 years, becomes popular in recent years. It is proved that more and more diseases are cured by this minimally invasive surgery. Further, significant therapeutic effects are achieved and pain is greatly alleviated from the aspect of patients. Therefore, a growing number of medical experts and scholars are devoting themselves to this therapy.Based on the translation project of medical English translation on interventional therapy, this report briefly introduces the features and contents of original medical texts and accordingly suggests translation strategies with the guidance of functional equivalence theory introduced by Eugene Nida. Apart from that, this report analyzes difficulties the translator encountered in actual translation of medical English. The main part of this report is to explain different translation strategies by giving typical examples to achieve three levels of equivalence. To the lexical equivalence, the translator uses literal translation, amplification, transposition and word-choosing to overcome some lexical difficulties during the translation process. Among these four methods, amplification and word-choosing are widely used in the translation of conjunction and amphibious words which are often neglected by others. As for syntactic equivalence, linear translation and syntactic restructuring are highlighted. The latter includes the strategies of inversion, conversion and integration, which are briefly discussed combining with many selected examples. In the last part of this report, the author emphasizes the importance of imaging-aided translation strategy. Toachieve textual equivalence, the author adopts three strategies, including addition, repetition and connection. At the same time, equivalence of scientific information and text formatting are brought into the focus of translators.By method of case study, this report has proved the practicability of functional equivalence theory in the purpose of guiding the translation practice of medical English. The main point of this report is to analyze the features of medial English and provides effective translation strategies in order to improve the quality of translation and make contribution to the translation practice of medical English.
