Chinese Modern Press began to rise from the early 19 th century. Soon after, the literary content appeared in newspapers and periodicals. In the late 19 th Century, the press fiction also appeared. Then, as Liang Qichao proposed the Fiction Revolution, the fiction had occupied an important position. In Lingnan, the press and the press fiction had the approximately same experience. However, comparing to the other areas, modern Lingnan press fiction embodied pretty obvious regional characteristics. At the same time, comparing to the Lingnan ancient fiction, modern Lingnan press fiction embodied visible characteristics of the times. The paper took modern China and every aspect of modern Lingnan as background, put a high premium on the carrier—press, paid attention to the identity and activities of journalist author, made a contemporaneous and historical comparison in order to make an objective and comprehensive evaluation for the modern Lingnan press fiction.The paper is composed of five chapters besides the prolegomenon and the conclusion.Chapter 1 reoganizes the process of the development of modern Lingnan press, probes the reasons of the flourishing of modern Lingnan press fiction from every aspects, and sums up the general creation of modern Lingnan press fiction. Chapter 2 viewing from the authors, analyzes their multiple professional identify, summarizes their opinions for fiction, and probes how the multiple professional identify influenced the creation. Chapter 3 emphasizes the themes and content of modern Lingnan press fiction, selects three prominent themes—Revolutionary Fiction,Knight Fiction, Agricultural-Industrial-Commercial Fiction, as objects for analysis. Chapter 4focuses on the artistic characteristics and studies it from 4 aspects—rhetoric, the revolution of literary form, descriptive ploy and features of style. Chapter 5 focuses on the regional characteristics, chooses the Lingnan's custom as an entry point for synthetically analyze the social and press fiction of modern Lingnan.
