This translation report is based on the translation of the first and second chapters chosen from the book Rhetoric and the Politics of Workplace Innovation. The translator gives a brief introduction about the whole translation procedure. In recent years, western management theory has been introduced into China, managers and employees pay increasing attention to employee empowerment, which take a great place in management. The empowerment theory is really necessary and popular for both employers and students who want to learn management knowledge, and which is the main reason that the original text is chosen by the translator.An analysis about the translation process and problems solving that the translator encountered during the translation is presented, and relevant references are researched to solve the practical problems. In the process of translation, some translation problems are encountered, for example, the long sentence translation, which is needed to clarify and break it up into several short sentences. The translator mainly refers to the equivalence functional theory to solve the problems in the process of translation.Through this translation practice, translation problems are solved and translation methods and theories are obtained by the translator, and the whole translation process inspires the translator that translation is not only the knowledge accumulation but also constantly learning and exploration. The translation report is based on the translation cases study, and the translator learns how to apply the functional equivalence during this translation practice.
