| In recent years, with the development of Chinese economic and the comprehensive national strength, the Chinese language schools develop very well. But now they are faced with the serious problem that they are lack of good teaching materials. In the dissertation, “Yes! Chinese” “Ma Liping Chinese” and “Chinese” which are used in two weekend Chinese schools of Sydney are the research objects. The dissertation compares the content of these three books, and analyses the result of the feedback questionnaires and the environmental factors of Australian weekend Chinese Language schools. On the basic of all these analysis, the dissertation offers some suggestions for compiling textbooks for the oversea weekend schools.Based on the comparison and analysis of three textbooks, we found that, “Yes! Chinese” and “Ma Liping Chinese” is more targeted. The content, overall layout learning goals of each stage of these two textbooks are based on the age, psychology, language background and usage environment of the learners. In contrast, “Chinese” is not so targeted. What's more, the results of the questionnaire show that both students and teachers valued “Yes! Chinese” and “Ma Liping Chinese” much higher than “Chinese”. This dissertation also analyses the special environment of weekend Chinese school, and the influence on textbooks compiling. Based on these analyses, we offer some suggestions on how to compile the Chinese books for weekend Chinese school:Make the textbooks more targeted and interesting; diversify the materials and the presentation of the materials; Control the number and difficulty of Chinese characters and words; use the way of "recognize characters before write, recognize more but write less" to learn Chinese characters; improve and perfect the teachers' booklet; attach great importance to both the ways and contents of the spread of Chinese culture; both Chinese and overseas teachers and experts should participated in the textbook compiling, etc. |
