Note-taking For Interpreting

Human beings have been ushered in an information era. where information is flooding into our daily life every day. Videos, as an important part, are becoming one of the most important ways to transmit information. Documentary, as an important carrier of information to report culture, history, even the politics and economy, is worth studying.English is widely spoken in the world, which promotes the cultural communication between different countries. Tea, as an important part of Chinese culture, is worth transmitting. Interpreting includes the procedures of listening, understanding, memory, and expression, among which memory is very important in the process of interpreting.This report aims to present a preliminary analysis of note-taking in interpreting. Based on the large-scale documentary, The Story of Tea, this report takes the second episode "At the End of the Road" as the object of practice. Studying from the corpus of the documentary and combining the actual simulated practice notes, this report proceeds to analyze the impact of documentary language features on notes. Research findings are as follows. The first concerns the structural characteristics of the documentary, that is, imperfection. In other words, the scattered documentary explanation, sense-groups may affect note-taking. The second is the functional characteristics of the documentary, viz. coordination. This means that the explanation is often accompanied by pictures, sound, characters, and atmosphere impacting on notes and re-expression. And third, the commentary in some cases has aesthetics, which may exert some impact on notes and re-expression.
