Consecutive interpreting composes an important form in interpreting. Note-taking is a basic skill and an indispensable part in CI. Proper use of note-taking skill can help the interpreter store the information of the source language effectively and improve the interpreter' efficiency in target language expressing. But the truth is that many students still meet difficulties in note-taking learning process. Instead of being an effective tool for interpreting students to retrieve information from memory, NT is still a barrier in the early stage of their interpreting learning.Hence, this investigation report aims to solve the following questions related to note-taking in CI:1. What are the difficulties MTI students have encountered in CI note-taking? And what are the reasons behind those difficulties?2. What is the relationship between the features of note-taking and the quality of consecutive interpreting?3. Is it necessary for schools to offer note-taking course for MTI students? With the purposes of addressing the questions above, the author chose 2014 MTI students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Hunan Normal University and Central South University as the survey subjects. First, invited students to do model CI test, then make questionnaires for these students in the three universities. The author hopes this survey can find the difficulties of note-taking in CI and find out the relations between the features of note-taking and interpreting performance. Then the author hopes the survey can provide many suggestions and methods for the following interpreting learners and interpreting teaching.
