As one part of the National Basic Research 973 Program,in this paper,the simulation samples were made based on the current situation of the conservation of polychrome potteries,which were studied by artificial accelerated ageing test to explore the failure law of some typical polymer materials that are usually used to conserve polychrome potteries such as paraloid-B72,acrylic and silicone-acrylic.Such are the methods we used in this research.Such are the methods we use in this research.The durability of these materials was characterized by the change of simulation samples' contact angles and macroscopic states with the ageing test.The reversible rate of the conservation materials mentioned above with accelerated ultraviolet ageing test were analyzed by the light degradation kinetics to predict ultraviolet lifetime.The thermal lifetime of these polymer materials were analyzed by Thermal gravimetric.And we also studied how environment factors,including temperature,moisture content,salts and impurities content,influence the reattachment result.First we can conclude from this research is shat compatibility problem between conservation materials and polychrome potteries is the main effect to affect the conservation result.UV or synergies reaction with UV,freeze-thaw and wetting are the two biggest impacts on these materials.Second we can deduce from our research is that the degradation reactions under UV condition of these materials were in line with the pseudo-second order reaction kinetic equation model,and then the half-life of these materials under UV condition could be calculated.Third according to the thermal dynamic calculation results we can find that these conservation materials could have a good durability in the condition with stable and low temperature.Although there are some limitations in the experiment and calculation,the tentative work opens the way to forecast the life of conservation materials of cultural relics.This research also showed that we could acquire an ideal result only in this situation that there is a little water,little PEG200,little salt and little soil in terracotta samples and a little PEG200,little menthol in pigment lacquer layers.We hope to provide some practical advice for the conservation of polychrome potteries field.
