In 1871,the signing of the "Sino-Japanese fixed Treaty" and the "China-Japan Business Charter" marked the formal establishment of modern Sino-Japanese trade relations.In modern Sino-Japanese trade relations,there are differences in the relationships between different regions in China and Japan.The Yangtze River Basin is the first country Japan first invaded in China and have suffered long-term economic expansion with unequal treaty system by Japan.Hubei,which is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River,occupy an important position in modern Sino-Japanese trade relations.Trades between Japan and Hubei province have some features in common with that between Japan and china.Yet there are some specialties.Studying the economics and trade relations between Japan and trade relations between Japan and Hubei province is of great significance for a better understanding of Sino-Japanese commercial relationship commercial relationship and its features in morden times.Japan is an important trade object in modern Hubei region.The study of this trade relationship is helpful to the research of morden economic and trade discovery in Hubei,which has both historical and realistic reference significance.This paper linking with the related situations after the opening of Hankou,Yichang and Shashi,which also uses economic and customs history data and other related historical materials of Hubei trade economy,discusses the changes of trade between Hubei Provience and Japan from 1895~1918.The first chapter is the introduction part.The second part of this paper summarizes the modern trade between Japan and Hubei before 1895 and emphasizes the process of Japan 's trade with Hubei Province after “China-Japan Business Charter”.The third part summarizes the trade process between Japan and Hubei Province from the Sino-Japanese War to World War I and focuses on the Sino-Japanese trade in Hankou,Yichang and Shashi.The fourth part analyzes the characteristics of trade between Japan and Hubei Province,which is specifically embodied that Japanese business has actively developed the market in Hubei and strengthened the expansion of trade in the Yangtze River for associating with Hubei more closely in trade.At the same time,Japan's opening to the Yangtze River waterway is inseparable with the intelligence collection of government and thefolks.The fifth part outlines the impact of trade between Japan and Hubei on both sides.With the develpoment of the Sino-Japanese War,the Russo-Japanese War and the first world war,the modern Japanese trade in Hubei expanded continuedly,the author believes.Sino-japanese war,Japan obtained many privileges from China and its influence to the penetration in the middle reach of Yangtze river;After the russo-japanese war,Japan's economic expansion in hubei region,started to hit American and British monopoly;Especially after the outbreak of the first world war,its power has to us and UK.In this process,the Japanese businessmen actively developing and occupying the market in Hubei is closely related with the intelligence work of government and the folks of Japan and shipping development.And Hubei rich iron ore and raw cotton provide indispensable raw materials for Japanese industrial development.So Japan has made a fierce competition for the region's markets,which also affected the foreign trade pattern and social economy of Hubei Province.
