| With the continuous development of globalization,countries in the world have gradually realized that cultural industry affects the economic lifeline of a country,cultural factors play a vital role in foreign trade,and cultural attraction has gradually become the focus of attention in international competition.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to build a socialist cultural power,China has issued a series of supportive policies,stimulating the rapid development of cultural industry,establishing China’s cultural confidence,promoting the further spread of traditional culture in the world,and enhancing China’s image and status in the international arena.However,compared with the United States,The United Kingdom and other developed countries,China’s cultural attraction is still low,there is a huge development potential waiting to be tapped.In addition,in recent years due to the sino-us trade friction,inverse globalization and COVID-19 outbreak in China’s foreign trade has also been influenced by serious,therefore,this paper takes China and other countries cultural attractions as the core of explanatory variables,explores the cultural appeal to the impact of import and export trade in our country,in order to realize the steady improvement and long-term development of foreign trade in our country.In the existing literature studies,scholars mostly use cultural distance as an indicator to measure the degree of cultural similarities and differences between countries,while cultural distance is a fixed value for any two countries,ignoring the possibility of asymmetry in the cultural attraction of both sides of trade.Therefore,on the basis of collating and referring to relevant literature,this paper first defines the concept of asymmetric cultural attraction,puts forward the measurement method of this paper,and explains the mechanism of asymmetric cultural attraction affecting China’s foreign trade.Secondly,according to the data of General Administration of Customs and CEPII database,this paper analyzes the status quo of China’s overall import and export trade,import and export trade with OECD and cultural attraction.Then,OECD countries that have close trade with China and are in a wide range of regions and can cover different cultures in the world are selected as sample countries to measure the asymmetric cultural attraction between China and the sample countries from 2005 to 2019.Be explained variables for our country in the OECD countries import and export trade,at the same time joined the sample countries economic scale,the Chinese economy,the system distance,geographic distance,the five Internet usage control variables,build the trade gravity model,from the Angle of empirical research,explains the asymmetric cultural appeal to the influence of China’s import and export trade.The robustness test and heterogeneity test of sub-sample regression were carried out by replacing estimation method and eliminating abnormal sample points.After empirical analysis and testing,this paper confirms the asymmetry of cultural attraction between China and other countries,and draws the basic conclusion that the enhancement of bilateral cultural attraction will have a certain positive impact on China’s import and export trade.Based on the research results,this paper puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions to promote China’s foreign import and export trade from the aspects of improving the attractiveness of Chinese culture,optimizing the structure of foreign trade,constructing Chinese cultural communication system,and intensifying the opening up. |
