This is a translation report on Every Little Step, which is an autobiography written by Bobby Brown, a famous black singer in America. This part of translation practice is composed of a ten-thousand-word from the original text, belonging to the first chapter of Every Little Step. By introducing every detail of his life, Bobby Brown makes more people know the real him. This is a musician biography book which can bring a new experience to global music industry and the people who like art, therefore, the translation of this book has much significance.This translation report is divided into 3 chapters.The first chapter is the overview of the translation practice, including the background of translation task, the content and author of the book - Every Little Step.Meanwhile, this chapter also presents the stylistic characteristic of the translation practice.The second chapter focuses on the translation process, which includes pre-translation preparation, translation phase and proofreading. The pre-translation preparation includes the final choice of the book, choosing translation tools and searching relevant information about the book. During translation process, the translator translated the text again and again, and thought deeply over the uncertain parts. At end of the translation, the translator reviewed the whole Chinese version. The last chapter is the core of this report, case analysis, which uses translation strategies and translation methods to do case analysis.Guided by the Skopos theory, the translator used different translation skills in different cases. For the words, the translator adopted the choice of words and the extension of words methods, while the translator used division, readjustment,amplification and omission methods to deal with long difficult sentences.The last part is the conclusion of the translation practice. The translator summarized the experience and lessons through this translation process as well as encountering problems.
