Analysis Of Figure Interpreting Processing Skills In Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting

Interpreting activities have a history of five thousand years so far. Interpretation is an impromptu oral activity in which information is transferred from the source language into a target language. Consecutive interpreting means that the interpreter starts his interpretation when the speaker stops after one paragraph. Then, the speaker continues his talk and stops at proper intervals so that the interpreter goes on with his interpreting.The cycle repeats. In modern time, science and technology experience a rapid development. People are more and more concentrated on interview programs. In this report, one program of CCTV Financial Review is chosen and used by the interpreter to do interpreting practice. CCTV Financial Review is a large review flagship program. It expresses its opinions on the economic and financial affairs of contemporary society and guides correctly public opinions. It has a deep reading and exploration for the most notable economy events from multiple perspectives. In the report,the difficulties in figures interpreting are analyzed and the practical interpreting skills are found to solve the problems under the guidance of Skopos theory. Through writing the report, the interpreter improves her interpreting skills of figures and also hopes this report that can provide a little reference for similar theme of interpreting work.The interpreting practical report consists of three parts: an introduction, main body and conclusion. In introduction, the importance of interpreting and consecutive interpreters is pointed out and the research status of figures interpreting and problems in figures interpreting practice are presented.The main body includes task description, process description and case analysis.In the first chapter, the interpreting tasks are mainly described which include the reasons for and significance of studying figures interpreting, the introduction to Skopos theory, the introduction to the chosen program, and the basic qualities required in consecutive interpreting.The second chapter is the description of interpreting process, which contains the preparations, the interpreting process and quality control.The third chapter is the analysis of specific cases. Respectively, the application of literal translation, conversion skill and note-taking skill in the process of figures interpreting under the guidance of Skopos theory.The last part is the conclusion. Through the interpreting practice, the interpreter improves her figures interpreting skills. Certainly, there are also some deficiencies. The interpreter has learned about features of figures interpreting practical report. In the later interpreting practice, the interpreter will try her best to apply the theories into practices and improve interpreting skills.
