The Debating Upon Tang And Song Poem In The Edo Period

The Debating Upon Tang and Song Poem which happened In the Edo period is not only a part of the history of Japanese literary criticism,but also a part of the history of Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges.It reflects the influence of Chinese culture on foreign culture and the process of accepting,thinking and converting of foreign culture in Japanese society.Combining with Japan's political,economic,cultural and Sino Japanese relations,this essay takes the poem theory during the Edo period as the starting point,in order to analysis the causes of the dispute,the theory,the poet and drawback.Meanwhile,by studying the acceptance of Chinese culture in Japan and the mutual influence between the two parties,we can explore the aesthetical standard of valuing feelings of Japan,highlight the uniqueness of Japanese culture,and provide a perspective to study Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges and the character of Japanese culture itself.In chapter one,by studying the party which advocated Tang poems,combined with Japan's political,economic,cultural and Sino-Japanese relations,to inquire into the reason of its emergence.In this period,the party made the style theory as the core of thought,they hold in esteem of High Tang poems and Ming poems and the expression of emotion in Poetry.But as the same as the back-to-the ancient ideology in the Ming dynasty,they can't solve the problem that the character of Du Fu's poem is different from the other's who are in the High Tang.The structer of chapter two is same to the former.The party which advocated Tang poems juxtaposed Du Fu with the later poets,and broke the monopoly of High Tang poems.The critical to the style theory made helped people to develop insights of poem.The way people initial distincted Tang poem to Song poem by dynasty gradually transformed into by style.At third chapter beginning,by comparing the evaluation of the poet and the the content of poetry,the essay probed into the mutual influence between the two parties.Then by analyzing the situation and the reason why Huang Tingjian's poetry is not popular in Japan to explore the inclination of the aesthetical standard of valuing feelings.At last,the essay discussed the deep-root cause of this inclination from the local characteristics of Japanese culture.
