This is a project report on the translation of Seven Simple Secrets.Written by Annette Breaux and Todd Whitaker,the book is about education,introducing and promotes a series of effective methods of classroom management to target readers mainly including primary and high school teachers.Translating such materials is of great help for primary and middle school teachers.While in E-C translation,after deconstruction of sentences,segments need to be reconstructed,during which process appropriate application of punctuation marks prompts to play a finishing touch on perlocution.This report aims at interchanging dash frequently used in Seven Simple Secrets with other punctuation marks for better communication.This report includes four chapters.Chapter?is the introduction of the report,mainly including the background and the goal of the task.Chapter?is about the process of translation,including the phase of preparation,the phase of translation process and the phase of revision.In chapter?,strategies of coping with and employing dashes in translation are demonstrated through cases.This chapter discusses whether dash should be replaced by comma,colon or parenthesis in target text according to specific situations,or whether other punctuation marks,such as comma,semicolon or parenthesis,needed to be changed into dash for the purpose of emphasizing certain fact.Chapter IV is the conclusion,summarizing the experience and lessons learned from this practice.
