It has become the focus and difficulty of tourism translation studies how to translate those culturally-loaded words which contain Chinese special cultural connotation in the practice of tourism translation. The paper adopts the Skopos theory as its theoretical basis to analyze the C-E translation of culturally-loaded words of Henan tourist materials. The main findings are listed as following aspects. 1)The Skopos theory stresses "the end justifies the means". The three main rules of Skopos theory could effectively guide the C-E translation of tourist materials. The paper presents the translation of amplification and omission based on the Skopos rule, the translation of paraphrase and analogy on the basis of the Coherence rule and the translation of paraphrase and transliteration based on the Fidelity rule.2)Peter Newmark's text type theory is also applied in the paper. The tourist materials are the combination of informative text and vocative text. The C-E translation of the tourist materials not only focuses on providing the relevant scenic spots information for tourists but also aims at attracting the foreign tourists to pay a visit to China and spreading Chinese culture.3)The paper classifies the most common culturally-loaded words of Henan tourist materials into five types. The study introduces the major strategies used in different types of culturally-loaded words, and points out its advantages and disadvantages as well as room for improvement.4)Culture is closely related with language and tourism. The huge differences in living conditions and social environment between different nations cause the culturally-loaded words. This paper emphasizes that translators should pay attention to the cultural context and cross-culture communication.5)The paper also points out that the C-E translation of tourist materials ought to take audiences' reaction into consideration. Appropriate strategies could be used in order to achieve translation purpose. The redundant information which is hard for the tourists to understand should be deleted or changed, and the cultural background should be added for a better understanding of the tourists when there is cultural vacancy.
