Prose translation is a kind of literary translation. "Truth, emotion and beauty" is the true nature of prose. The principle of prose translation should also be focused on conveying "Truth, Emotion, Beaury"(Li Ming,2010:103). Mr. Zhang Peiji as China's well-known educator and translator (Kang Leiming,2011:3-4) has great attainments in literature, especially in C-E translation of modern prose. Selected Modern Chinese Essays is an outstanding work of prose translation, which includes a variety of genres and forms. It is worth my study.Prose translation process is a process which transfers the aesthetic enjoy. By reproducing the original text into another language, the translator helps the target language readers get the same experience as the original language readers. And thereby, the purpose of translation was achieved.In this study, the writer chooses the Skopos theory as the theoretical basis and analyses Selected Modern Chinese Essays 3 respectively from the level of structure and vocabulary. This study suggests that Zhang's translation represent the three principles of the Skopos theory very well. In addition, to study the features of Zhang's translation, the study also looks into the prose translation from the level of literature. In short, the Skopos theory acts as a guide in the process of the prose translation.
