In this paper,we take three different Chinese versions of the same Buddhist sutra as our research object.They are Pusadichi Jing(Ten volumes)of Tan Wuchen in the Northern Liang,Pusa Shanjie Jing(Nine volumes and One volume)of Qiuna Bamo in Liusong,Yujia Shidi Lun(Volume thirty-five to Volume fifty)of Xuanzang in Tang Dynasty.Based on the detailed comparison of key words in the three Buddhist sutras,we probe the significant value of different translations of the same Buddhist sutra in inspecting the exact meanings of difficult words,seeking the process of historical development of Chinese vocabulary,observing the pragmatic habit and translation style of different translators of sutras,collating Buddhist sutras,revising dictionary and so on.This paper is divided into four parts.In the first chapter,we briefly review the research status of different Chinese translation of the same Buddhist sutra and explain the reasons for choosing Pusadichi Jing and its different versions as the research object.In the second chapter,we conduct a comparative study of Buddhist words and common words in the Pusadichi Jing and its two different versions,investigating the evolution of Chinese vocabulary from the middle ancient to modern times and the different translation styles of Tan Wuchen,Qiuna Bamo,Xuanzang those three different translators of sutras.In the third chapter,we collate the relevant content of Taisho Tripitaka and propose several recommendations when collating Buddhist scriptures.In the fourth chapter,we use the corpus of Pusadichi Jing and its two different versions to supplement language dictionary.
