Abstract/Summary:
Chinese Buddhist Scripture is an essential material for the study of the history of Chinese vocabulary in the middle ancient times. As one of the most influential classics of Mahayana Buddhism, the Golden Light Sutra(《金光明经》)has spread widely and has far-reaching influences because it promotes the thoughts of confessing sin and protecting the country and benefiting the people. From a linguistic point of view, the Sanskrit scriptures have been translated into Chinese,Tibetan,Uighur,Xixia,Mongolian,Yutian,Uyghur,Manchu and other languages;from the Chinese version, six Chinese translations have been produced from the Beiliang period to the Tang Dynasty From the perspective of the handing down of Chinese texts, three of these translations have been copied for more than a thousand years, forming many versions, including the Fangshan Stone Scripture, more than 20 Chinese scriptures, more than2000 Dunhuang writings, and various Japanese ancient Transcripts, huge corpus, and intricate versions. However, such a rich literature resource has not received enough attention and research in linguistics, which does not match its prestige. Therefore,it is necessary for us to sort out and study the"the Golden Light Sutra"and change its literature language research status. This paper takes three different scriptures of the Golden Light Sutra as the research object.By comparing the similarities and differences of the three classics, analyzing the characteristics of their use,and counting the frequency of their use, this paper investigates the development and evolution of the vocabulary, enriches the understanding of the vocabulary from the northern and Southern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty, and further uses the materials of different translations to study some of the words, while clarifying the meaning of the words at the same time provides a reference for the supplementary book, showing the specific value of the Golden Light Sutra with the different translation materials for the study of words. This article is divided into six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, which traces back to the translation of Sanskrit,Chinese,Tibetan,Mongolian,Uighur,Xixia and other language versions ofthe Golden Light Sutra and the general situation of the Chinese version;reviews the current research situation from the perspectives of "the Golden Light Sutra" and "the study of the same and different translation vocabulary";and establishes the research objectives, research value, research methods and relevant explanations of this paper. The second chapter to the fourth chapter, extensive comparison.Through the comparison of the Buddhist terms, special name words and general words of the three scriptures,we find that the three scriptures not only have great consistency, but also have many differences. These similarities and differences reflect the south From the Northern Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, the translation of scriptures had a certain linguistic appearance. The fifth chapter, case analysis. An example is given to illustrate the specific value of the comparative study of the words in the three different translations. The sixth chapter is the conclusion part, which sums up the similarities and differences of the three classics words. And get the following four points of understanding.1.Compared with the three versions, translators are more and more inclined to choose free translation.2.There are more and more words, more and more polysyllabic words. It is common for translators to use synonymous conjunction to form disyllabic words.3.It can be seen from the differences in the use of new and old translated words and monosyllabic and polysyllabic words that Yi Jing’s version is obviously different from the other two versions.Tang Dynasty is a watershed in the middle and ancient Chinese history.4.Among the translators of the three classics,Yi Jing,as the only native, has a higher level of Chinese culture and language,a more flexible choice of words and sentences. And the version has a richer vocabulary system.
