Nowadays, with the increasingly severe environmental degradation, people pay more attention to the global environmental protection and human geography. Thus,it could be particularly important for the translation of environmental articles.Nevertheless, domestic research on the translation of environmental papers is insufficient. The report is based on the translation of environmental papers selected from the Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering in 2015,covering issues on aquatic environment, atmospheric environment, and municipal solid waste management and so on.Under the guidance of Newmark's communicative theory, this report summarizes the characteristics of the environmental papers chosen from the Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering. Then the translation techniques concerning lexicon, syntax and text are included. At lexical levels, translation strategies like transplant, explanation and extension are adopted when translating environmental jargons, abbreviations and so on,deepening the understanding of environmental terms and papers for target readers;at syntactic levels, translation strategies like addition, omission and nominalized structures are mainly used to enhance the readability and acceptance of environmental papers translation;at textual levels, translation strategies like implicitation and explicitation are employed to stress or weaken the semantic logic in the text, conforming to the cultural customs of the target language. It is hopeful that this report can raise the public awareness of environmental protection and exert a favorable influence on the study of translating environmental papers translation.
