Cheng Sui(1607-1692),his character is Muqian;art-name is Taoist Gou.He was born in Yunjian(Songjiang Shanghai),Shexian County,Anhui Province.He is a calligrapher,painter and seal carving expert of the late Ming and early Qing dynasty.In Chinese painting history,Cheng Sui was one of the representatives of the Xin An painting school.He was good at painting landscape with dry pen and pure ink.This article will proceed academic history review of Cheng Sui's paintings.Soon afterwards,the writer will take the painting of living in deep bamboo forest which is collected by Anhui Museum as an example,and explore deeply about Cheng Sui's painting style and idea in his early period.Find the early evidence of the cause of forming Cheng Sui's later dry pen pure ink landscape painting style,so as to establish the important academic value of the painting of living in deep bamboo forest.
