A Practice Interpreting Report Of Bbc Documentary "The Pre-Raphaelities Brotherhood"

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood is an art reform revolution in 1848.Several young artists broke the rules of academism and created realism paintings which became a thorough revolution of British art. Through the explanation given by several experts, this documentary reappears the Brotherhood's whole process from beginning to disbandment and introduces its influence on British art. This report is an English-Chinese interpreting practice report taking BBC-4 documentary The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood as source material. It lists all the problems the author met before and in the practice to recur the whole process of it.This report consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. Its main contents are as follows:The first part is introduction. It briefly introduces some background knowledge of Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and practice significance.The second part is main body. Chapter One is task description which briefly introduces background knowledge and introduces basic interpreting skills and the requirement for interpreters in consecutive interpretation. Chapter Two is the description of the interpreting process. It is about the preparation, the process of interpreting and the interpretation quality control. Chapter Three is detailed case analysis including basic interpreting skills and notes-taking application. Finally it analyses the difficulties and errors the author met with in this process and points out measures for emergencies.The last part is conclusion. In this part, the author summarizes the discussion above and points out that the major goal of this report is to improve interpreting quality. The author believes experience and improvement will benefit the interpreting practice in the future and guides us the right direction and also provide valuable experience for taking up the future interpreting work.
