Analysis On Consecutive Interpretation From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory—A Case Study Of Translation Practice

History of translation and interpreting tells us that the number of the translation works is much more than the interpreting one. One of the reasons is that no recorder to record sound so no related research can be made. With the growing need and hope of communication, interpreting has been much used in the different areas. After the recorder comes into being, interpreting could be studied and such research has deepened widely.Conference interpreting will be mainly discussed in this thesis.Mainly two types of interpretation are widely discussed. One is consecutive interpreting:only after the speaker has paused his speaking can interpreter start his interpretation of a complete meaning. The other one is the simultaneous interpreting, which means once the speaker starts to talk the interpreter shall almost start to interpret. Since in China, on most occasion people apply consecutive interpreting during the meetings, this thesis will mainly concentrate on the consecutive interpreting.The consecutive interpreting will be interpreted by the guidance of the interpretive theory, and my personal interpreting experience will prove this theory. And the whole process of interpreting will be analyzed accordingly.The first part of this thesis will give a general introduction of conference interpreting:the history, definition, characteristic etc will be analyzed. And the second part will mainly focus on the interpretive theory from the perspective of he history and the triangle mode etc. The third part is the case study of my personal interpreting job, in which the whole process and most importantly the actual interpreting in the conference will be studied under the guidance of the triangle mode. The forth part mainly goes to the interpreting training with interpretive theory influence. The last part makes a conclusion that the interpretive theory is still one of the most important and practical theories during the interpreting practice and teaching, and it can be always applied to different areas and industries. In the near future, with more practices, this theory will attain to perfection.
