A Study On The Aesthetic Implication Of The Root Carving In Enshi Area

The root carving art is an ancient but young art.In the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period,root carving has appeared in our country,and played an important role in people's lives;However,due to various reasons,this art hardly disappeared without successors in the early liberation of our country.After the liberation,the root carving art appeared on the stage of history once again and re-rised in the Enshi area and gradually developed and grew up,whose economic and social influence is becoming increasingly prominent,being an independent art category in Chinese art field.It emphasizes on reserving the root flavor,and beautifying and sublimating the nature.The formation of the root carving art style is caused by the region's history and culture,religion,folk customs,social and economic development and other self choices.Its aesthetic category contains several aspects such as natural beauty,image beauty and space reconstruction beauty,which is the key of its aesthetic language.Root carving reflects the unique social production and living customs,folk beliefs,values,technology and so on.It embodies the creation thought and spirit and aesthetic ideal of local people in central,which contains rich cultural and artistic value.This article explains the general situation of Enshi Region and the historical development process of the root carving.It makes comprehensive overview on the distribution of root carving art,development status and production process in this region;By absorbing and using the theory and method of ethnology and art,this article analyzes and studies the physical space and mental space of root carving forms in Enshi Region from the view of art,and explores the spiritual connotation of art style and art form of root carving in space environment;it alsoresearches the aesthetic implication from the natural beauty,image beauty and space reconstruction beauty of root carving form.The root carving in Enshi Region has rich traditional culture as well as being affected by many factors such as culture,economy,politics and religion in the development of modern society.Therefore,the study of root carving form in Enshi Region not only can protect and develop the folk art heritage in the region but also explore the spiritual connotation of local folk material culture and rich the regional folk culture and art research,which has important practical significance on inheriting and developing folk culture and art of Enshi Region.
