A Report On Translation Of Shandong Forum(2016) Website

The explosive growth of globalization and regional integration over the recent years has increased the demand for regional communication and cooperation.This report is based on a translation task undertaken by the author for Shandong Forum(2016)which is a high-end international academic forum co-hosted by Shandong University and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies(KFAS).Participating in the translation project of the Forum,the author was in charge of the student translation team from April to October 2016,devoting to the success of Shandong Forum(2016)and the publicity work for Shandong University and Shandong Province.Based on the translation experience of the author and taken the guidance of Memetic Theory,this report adopts the method of case study to sort,classify,and conclude some strategies for international publicity translation.Before the translation task,the author has carried out an elaborate preparatory work for the task,during which reviewing the text has been conducted to analyze the language characteristics of international publicity materials.During the translation process,under the guidance of Memetic Theory,the author adopted the translation strategies such as translation compensation,simplification,sentence pattern conversion,back-translation,analogy as well as affixation.Having finished the task,the author reflected on the stages of the translation process and proposed ideas for improvement to overcome the difficulties encountered.This report consists of six chapters,including the introduction,the description of the translation task,the translation process,the introduction to Memetic Theory and international publicity translation,the case study as well as the conclusion,which records,analyzes and concludes the translation task of "Shandong Forum(2016)" project,trying to discuss the basic ideas of Memetic Theory and its significance for the international publicity translation materials.
