The Cultural Relection Of The Era Destiny Of The Homeland

Khaled Hosseini,an Afghan American writer,has become a dark horse in the international literary circles in recent years.His first novel,the Kite Runner,has been widely acclaimed in the world and has won a series of literary awards.He then didn't disappoint everyone's expectations and published excellent works,respectively in 2007 and in 2013,two of is works“A Thousand Splendid Suns”and "the Mountains Echoed",these two works have attracted considerable attention in the mainstream media.Although Hosseini's works are based on the social background of the war in Afghanistan,but there is no lack of the description of the characters.Hosseini takes the image of the father in the novel as the breakthrough point,and reveals the power of common human in the world of Afghanistan.Father plays a very important role in every family life and has an important influenece on the development of family.In the three novels,Hosseini depicts different father in different cultural environment and in different family environment to reveal the social problems such as racial discrimination,patriarchal society existed among Afghanistan.9·11incident pushes Afghanistan to the center of the world stage,in a long period of time,westerners are regardedAfghan as ahell on earth that is full of wars,terror,hunger and death.As an Afghan writer,Hosseini takes responsibility for telling the world about real Afghanistan.Through his description of his father's character and the appearance of his father's love,he expresses the common human nature of Afghanistan and Afghanistan is no longer the island in people's eyes that is filled with plague,but a place where all things are full of warmth,full of hope in the Muslim world.At the same time,he also expressesthe distaste for the war and his pursuit of freedom and equality.The starting point of this thesis is based on the Husaini's three novels,"the Kite Runner","A Thousand Splendid Suns" and "the Mountains Echoed ".And after a close reading on the text,this thesis puts the image of father in social cultural background of Afghanistan through plot of novels,characters and value orientation in order to analysis the Hosseini's reasons of shaping the father images in the worksand his thinking of human nature.This thesis consists of four parts: the introduction part mainly introduces the writer,Husseini and his works,and expounds the research status of Husseini and his works in the domestic and international and this thesis' s research purpose and significance.In the first chapter,the author elaborates the reasons of Hossein's father image from the aspects of religious culture,multicultural identity and humanitarianism.The second chapter classifies the types of all works' images of father,and analysises images of father suchas Amir's father,Lyra ‘s Nyra ‘s father.The third chapterfrom the cultural value of all works aspect analyzes in detail the cultural reflection in the Afghan war's background,strong criticism and rethinking of Afghanistan's traditional society,the yearning for the good human nature and the hope for the fate of the motherland.
