This thesis should serve as an examination of the historical importance of the textbook"(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny",its influence on 20th and 21st-century Czech textbooks of Chinese and how they presented Chinese language to Czech and Slovakian students.I draw a comparison between five different textbooks representative of the historical development in the teaching of Chinese in my region. At the core of these textbooks stands,,(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny",published in 1967 by Mr.Svarny and collective of other authors. The thesis is divided into 6 chapters.Chapter 1 deals generally with the introduction and the research methods employed. In Chapter 2,I introduce the development of teaching of Chinese in this region and provide the core facts of how significant political and historical events influenced research and teaching of Chinese in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. This chapter also serves as a guide to what is the connection between the author of'(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny"-Mr.Svarny and the authors of the other textbooks present in this analysis.Chapter 3 presents the overall attitude of the authors, their teaching approach and advice to the students and general structure of these textbooks, such as how many books are they composed of.It presents the reader mainly with the goals and general idea of each of the textbook.Chapter 4 is the content analysis of these books.I focus my attention to the structure of exercises and how does the content used in them reflect the issues of pronounciation, vocabulary, tones, characters, reading and writing to their students and what is their similiarity,if any,to "(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny".In Chapter 5,I present the reader with main comparative results. The focus lies within determination of the strong and weak points of each of these textbooks and their usability.I also draw attention to their respective connectivity.Chapter 6 is the overall comparison of these textbooks and revision of the results of the analysis. The reader is hereby informed about the specific areas in which was "(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny" affected by its predecessors and how did it impact its followers, thus clearly determining the historic position of "(?)vod do hovorov(?) (?)n(?)tiny" among Czech textbooks of Chinese language.
