Contrastive Study On "Crystal Boys" Of Chinese And English Versions

"Crystal Boys",from the perspective of a man named "A-Qing",tells the stories of a group of runaways becoming the hustler gay in the park.They are not allowed to mainstream society,some actively escape,while others are passive to drive out the original family,wandering on the edge of society homelessly.As the first novel taking homosexuality as its main theme in the history of modern Chinese Literature,and is also Bai Xianyong's only long novel at the moment so that it is self-evident importance of "Crystal Boys" in the history of literature.At the same time,both the author Bai Xianyong and the translator Howard Goldblatt have a profound understanding of the concept of culture.They expound their cultural outlook through practice writing and translation.It is the culture in the "Crystal Boys" that Homosexual subculture existing all over the world and Regional and ethnic characteristics of Chinese culture.Homosexual culture,as a sub culture,has been taboo by the mainstream society.Studies on the "Crystal Boys" in gay elements are not many.This article has carried on the beneficial attempt.As a representative of Oriental culture,Chinese culture has been suppressed by western culture since modern times.With the improvement of China's international status,Chinese culture is eager to make sound and urgently need to spread overseas..These two cultures are all loaded with specific language in the novel,and through the translation,cross-cultural communication activities,spread to the overseas world.This paper takes Chinese and English texts as comparative texts.The homosexual language and culture loaded words are the main objects of study.Culture-loaded words are discussed in terms of ecology,material,social life,religion,language,and other aspects according to the classification of culture by Nida.In addition,the thesis is guided by the theories of translation and intercultural communication.Drawing on Holzer's research results in the cultural field,we will make a theoretical analysis of the text after comparative study.This paper analyzes Howard Goldblatt's cultural and translation views,as well as the translation strategies and intercultural communication in intercultural communication.Through these studies,we can promote Chinese literature and Chinese cultures "go out" better.
