Since 2014,Nanjing University Press has undertaken to publish a collection of the works of Maurice Blanchot. Thanks to the recommandation of the supervisor, the author translated the novel Aminadab. This article is the report of this translation.Maurice Blanchot is considered as one of the most critical in French thinkers of the 20th century.By devoting his life "to literature and the silence of its own",he has influenced many thinkers, including Bataille,Derrida,Barthes,Deleuze and others. This report is based on the translation of his novel Aminadab. As a projection of his ideas,Aminadab is known for its strangeness and complexity of both perspective and form of expression. To persist this literal character, the author takes the view of the Henri Meschonnic’s rhythm as the theoretical basis in the translation of this novel. This report consists of five parts. The first chapter.briefly introduces the origin of this translation and particular characteristics of the novel. The second chapter summarizes the translation process. The third chapter explains the concept of "rhythm" in the framework of Meschonnic’s poetic theory, emphasizes its role in the organization of language:the rhythm is the fundamental reality of discourse rather than simplely poetry;instead of being nearly synonym for the meter or a fixed form, the rhythm organizes all aspects of the text, varies from different works;the rhythm is a precise, objective, demonstrable concept instead of a vague and subjective impression. After having clarified the definition of rhythm, the third chapter analyzes the necessity and the possibility of translating rhythm in the literary translation:the translator must get around the duality of meaning and form, seek to grasp the rhythm of the original text in order to reproduce its characteristics in the translation text;by improving analysis methods towards rhythm, the translator could better understand the rhythm and reproduce it in a more appropriate way.The fourth chapter shows examples around phonetics, semantics and typography in the Chinese translation of the novel Aminadab.Through the study of different rhythms’ forms and effects, the author tries to reproduce particular rhythms in the translation text. The last chapter contributes to concluding this experience of translation practice, assuming that the perspective of rhythm devotes kind of inspiration to the both of translation method and the ethic of translation. In terms of the method, the rhythm allows us to get around the duality of form and meaning,to approache the essential quality of the text.As for the ethic of translation, the perspective of rhythm demands that the translator is supposed to have an open attitude and to respect the characteristics of the original text.
