A Comparative Study Of Bunin's And Shen Congwen's Local Novels

The countryside is the home of all the people,and the local literature can reflect the literary tradition and social reality of each nation.In twentieth century the Russian classical writers Bunin and China modern Miao writer Shen Congwen a famous Chinese and foreign literary native writers,the two describe the pain from the traditional agricultural civilization to industrial civilization in the throes of change from the same or different perspectives,and accompanied by the devoid of old ethics and mores.The nostalgia of traditional local culture and the reflection to the consequences caused by industrial civilization come across the two author's writing,which has a great significance on the parallel study of Bunin's and Shen Congwen's local novels.The introduction of this paper describes the reason,purpose,significance and research status of the study.According to the text,the first chapter is a brief overview of Bunin and Shen Congwen's local literature creation and achievements.Bunin is called "the last aristocrat writer",the works have lyric style and the nostalgic color,which caused the great disturbance in the Russian literary world.Bunin is Russia's first winner of Nobel Literature Prize.Shen Congwen claims to be a "country man",and the Xiangxi world under his creation has become a spectacle of China modern local novels.Flesh and blood ties with the country,recall of past mores,showing many similarities;while the differences of education,the social environment and the status,reflecting their respective national characteristics.The second chapter discusses in detail the similarities between Bunin and Shen Cong wen's literary creation.The beautiful scenery of the countryside and the simple folkway,showing nostalgia of old traditional folk custom.At the same time,their works hide the lingering shadow of tragedy in the peaceful atmosphere,indicating the inevitable passing of the good old days,the village go to decline and fall in the helpless.The third chapter discusses the differences between Bunin and Shen Congwen's creation of local literature,analyzing the internal causes of these differences.The difference between the identity and the tradition inevitably affect the writing style of the two authors,which will bring different reading experience.The fourth chapter puts forward my own thoughts on the local literature,and then explores the enlightenment brought by the local literature in nowadays.
