Qinshui county is in Jincheng city,Shanxi province,and Duanshi town is in the east of Qinshui county.Qinshui(Duanshi)dialect belongs to Jin dialect.This thesis describes the initials,finals and tones of Duanshi dialect,sorts out the homophone list in Duanshi dialect,summarizes the tone sandhi patterns of the disyllables in light tone and two-word phrases,and also analyzes its rhyme characteristics through comparing the initials,finals and tones between Qinshui dialect and medieval Chinese.There are six chapters.The first chapter is introduction,introducing the geographical location and reforms in history in Qinshui county to state the inner differences and classification of Qinshui dialect,giving a review of the present researches of Qinshui dialect,and also depicts the research method,significance,the selection principle of investigation and the dialect co-partner of pronunciation.The second chapter is about the initials,finals and tones of Qinshui dialect and the cooperation relationship among them.The third chapter is about the Qinshui homophone list.The fourth chapter is to describe the tone sandhi of disyllables of Qinshui dialect.The pitch of words in light tone is depended on the word before it.And the modal particles in Qinshui dialect such as 'la"ba"le' and the auxiliary word "de" are read in light tone in Qinshui dialect,and also the latter word of reduplicated disyllabic words and some in non-reduplicated disyllabic words would be read in a light tone.The tone sandhi patterns of two-word phrases are divided into non-reduplicated disyllabic mode and reduplicated disyllabic mode,and the tone sandhi of two-word mode in non-reduplicated disyllabic words are divided into 4 parts:(1)no change in tone in 34 groups.(2)change in tone of the former word in 3 groups.(3)change in tone of the latter word in 2 groups.(4)change in both words in 1 group.And all the second syllables are changed into the light tone in reduplicated disyllabic words.The fifth chapter is comparison between Qinshui dialect and medieval Chinese represented by GuangYun phonetic system through initials,finals and tones to summarize the historical transformation characteristics of initials,finals and tones.The prominent characteristics of Qinshui dialect are:Zhi group and Jing group are both pronounced as[ts tsh s z],the rhyme tail[-m,-n]disappears in yang rhymes,and rhyme tail[-?]is kept in some words;the entering tone is kept;there are 8 syllables in entering tone;and the tone category in entering tone is divided into yin and yang.The sixth chapter is about transformation of the entering tone of QinShui dialect.There are 47 entering tone words are changed into the level tone,and there are 13 words in level tone are changed into entering tone,which is due to language contact,the different meaning of pronunciations and the phonetics change in flow of speech.
