As a channel for foreigners to know about the universities, the Newsletter not only reports hot news but records every aspect of school culture. The Newsletter of HQUFL in English version can help to enhance school's popularity, attracting more international students and teachers to study and work in HQUFL,promoting the international development of the students and teachers. The Newsletter of HQUFL,as one of the news materials, enjoys distinguished features in language such as “objectivity”,“brevity” and “clarity”.And in style, the news can be divided into hard news and soft news. The hard news focuses on seriousness, timeliness, significance while the soft news which covers broad fields of life is less instant and describes the events with more personal feelings.Based on the C-E translation project of the Newsletter of HQUFL,the author makes detailed analysis on the source text from the aspects of language and style. In accordance with the Skopos theory which was put forward by Hans Vermeer and developed in Germany in the 1970 s,the author makes further revision on the translation text. This report mainly concerns about the solutions to the problems such as how to translate the headlines, how to achieve internal coherence in every piece of news and how to reproduce the literary style in the soft news.Guided by the Skopos theory, the author adopts some translating strategies including editing, free translation, reconstruction and the employment of the rhetoric devices, attempting to solve the problems in the translation.Meanwhile, the author hopes that this report can provide some enlightenment and reference for those who are learning news translation..
