Study On The Influence Of Dispositional Optimism And Aggression

At present,the study of positive psychology is becoming an advanced research hotspot abroad,but not in China.The study of aggression is a hotspot recent years.Researchers from all over the world give an eye to the subject from different angles,such as personality traits,parenting way,coping style.However,there are few authors to discuss the relationship between optimism and aggression.Emotion is an important factor to induce aggression,but few study shows what role positive emotion plays between personality traits and aggression.The subjects of this study are college students,the aim of this study is to find the influence between optimistic personality tendency and aggression.First we conducted a preliminary experiment to ask students fill in the questionnaires to explore the relationship between optimistic personality and hostile factor.After the confirmation,we conducted Experimental One.Experiment One used the method of questionnaire and experimental research.The College Student Attack Scale and Extrinsic Affect Simon Task(EAST)were used to measure implicit aggression and explicit aggression.Experiment Two is based on the Experiment One.We introduced emotional stimuli to explore if the emotional stimuli could modulate the relationship between different personality tendency to implicit aggression and/or explicit aggression.Above all the researches,this paper concluded as follows:(1)The optimistic personality tendency and hostility in SCL-90 factors have correlation,positive cognition and hostility exists significant negative correlation,negative cognition and hostile factor exists positive significant correlation.(2)Individuals have an implicit preference of attacking words,and have significant implicit aggression.(3)Optimistic individuals and pessimistic individuals have significant different implicit aggression.Pessimistic individuals is significantly higher than the optimistic individuals.The implicit aggression between different gender was not significant different.(4)The influence of emotional stimuli have different effect to aggression and different optimistic personalities.Whether optimistic individuals or pessimistic individuals,implicit aggression was not affected by emotion;And explicit aggression of different optimistic personalities was affected by emotion.Negative emotion has a larger effect to the pessimistic individuals but has no effect to the optimistic individuals.
