The Reference And Carry Forward Of Calligraphy Classics

This is an essay with an attempt to explore how to reference and carry forward the calligraphy classics based on the author's own practical experience.The essay is divided into five parts: Part I generalizes the methods for working out a reasonable rationale on the classic works through the author's own practical experience;Part II sums up the key points contained in the principle of “aiming high” of the classic awareness based on the analysis of the seal script and official script of the ancient calligraphy;Part III makes a careful and detailed analysis on the importance of “momentum” in the classic awareness by taking the cursive script of Mi Fu as an example;Part IV introduces the nuclear component of “artistic conception” in the classic awareness by exemplifying the works of two different styles and,through detailed analysis,argues for its indispensability in calligraphy creation;Part V discusses how to find a road for creating new classic calligrpahical styles.
