This paper is a report on the escort interpreting at the Fourth Conference on Dermatological Academic Exchange in Hebei Province in 2015.Based on this interpreting practice,the interpreting process,the problems in interpreting and the interpreting strategies adopted from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory are described with the aim of further studying how the Interpretive Theory guides interpreting practice and thus provides references for future interpreting task.The paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter is introduction in which the background of the task,significance of the study and main concepts of the Interpretive Theory are introduced.The second chapter is description of the entire interpreting process,including background knowledge and terms preparation,implementation of the task,emergency handling and post-interpretation assessment.The third chapter is the most significant part of this paper.In this part,concrete cases are analyzed from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory.Problems such as role shift,turn-taking,sight interpretation,barriers of understanding caused by cultural differences,etc.are analyzed and solutions adopted in the process from the perspective of Interpretive Theory are expounded.Last but not least,based on those problems,some interpreting strategies are concluded in this part under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,including complementary interpreting,explanation,omission,summarization,etc.The last part of this paper includes conclusion and lessons drawn from the practice,making it clear what the author needs to pay attention to in future interpreting tasks.
