Carrying out ‘advance translations' to detect comprehensibility problems in a source questionnaire of a cross-national survey is an academic paper from a series of collected papers entitled Translation and Comprehensibility.Based on questionnaires of ESS,the paper attempts to illuminate the importance of advance translation for improving its quality.Since its text type is informative whose purpose is to reproduce facts,to convey information, and to express ideas, the translator tries to improve the translation quality by a series of translation methods and strategies, with the guidance of purpose principle as well as loyalty principle. The paper attaches significance to two issues which are always neglected during our study and research of translation theory, the translatability of source questionnaire and the comprehensibility problems of translators encounter during translating process.Through this practice,my academic translation ability has been raised and the theme of the thesis is broadly disseminated so as to enhance the academic exchange. |
