The translation report is based on the section two of An Accommodating Spouse, written by Elizabeth Jolley,an Australian writer. This part of the novel mainly describes Delaware Carpenter's daily life at work and home.A novel filled with sorrow and happiness, misplacement and emplacement, chaos and order perfectly delivers a special sense of absurdity and surrealism. It can be noticed that in the section two there are a lot of interior monologues and free associations and other stream of consciousness techniques.Obviously Jolley is trying to attach attentions on the psychological activities instead of the plot.Unlike other traditional novels,Jolley boldly explores the verge of conventional grammar and makes great experimental breakthroughs.Likewise, the translator is focusing on its syntactic variations asinversion of the order of sentence, absence of the members of sentence, repetition of the sentence elementand discussing some feasible translation skills. The translator has thoroughly realized the complexity of translating literature works based on the practice.WithJolley's unconventional writing skills,An Accommodating Spouse is of great literary merit which requires professional qualities, literary attainments and knowledge of advanced theories to reproduce the original style and charm as much as possible.
