Since the self is extracted from the part of the theory of psychology,it has always been the focus of attention of psychologists. In the study of many areas of self,self-reference effect(SRE)is a part of the results, and it founds that when stimuli or events are associated with the self, people have a faster response and a better memory effect. And this kind of self-related stimulus put the inhibition of return into the experimental paradigm, what the effect will be?In the inhibition of return paradigm, the result is a kind of inhibition, but the self-related stimulus is a kind of facilitate effect and the result of the combination is very worth looking forward to.This study contains two experiments, using clue-target stimulus research paradigm.Experiment 1,2(cue type: self name,"MoYan" / "Obama")× 2(cue location:cued, uncued)of the two factors within the design,to explore the effect of self-reference cue on return inhibition, and to show whether self-reference cue can contribute to return inhibition. It found that theresponse time of the self-reference cued was significantly faster than that of the non-self-reference at the ipsilateral level, that is,the self-reference effect.Experiment 2,4(cue type:self name, good friend,"Mo Yan" / "Obama",stranger)×2(cue location: cued, uncued)of the two factors within the design, and further exploration the impact on self-reference degree cues on inhibition of return. It was found that the response time of the self-reference cue type was significantly faster than that of the non-self-reference cue type at the same side, that is,the degree of self-reference effect appeared. The results show self-reference cues and cue positions have an interact effect on inhibition of return.Self-reference cues weaken the inhibition of return effect, and inhibition of return effect did not show a stable effect. The experimental results support the dual process theory of self-reference coding.
