Career exploration is defined as an individual's quest for career development, including environmental exploration and self-exploration.Environment exploration refers that the individual explores on the industry, business, occupation, professional and other professional world, finding all kinds of information about the career.Self-exploration refers to the exploration on a deeper understanding of their career tendencies through the exploration of their own interests, experience and values. The orientation of employment is the beginning of career development of college students. However,a survey which is about career development in the future showed that only 8.3% of students had clear goals and confidence in their future.Other students said that they were confued and stressed about the future. The study found that college students' career exploration not only helped individuals to define their career orientation, but also can effectively predict their future career development achievements and job satisfaction. Therefore,it is significant to promote the clarity of their career orientation and the quality of life by improving the level of career exploration. The research discussed the relationships among parental rearing patterns, ego identity and career exploration of college students, trying to find out the factors that affected the career exploration and the way it worked. So to find out a solution or guidance to help students to promote the level of career exploration and effectively plan their own career path.A questionnaire survey method was used in this study. We took 678 students in Jilin University randomly, and adopted the function of the SPSS21.0 and AMOS21.0 to do the difference examination, the ANOVA examination, the correlation analysis, the regression analysis and structural equation model to establish the actual structural equation model. To sum up,we made a conclusion as follows:1.The career exploration of college students belonged to the higher middle level.Self-exploration was higher than environmental exploration.2.There were significant differences on grade, education background and family environment in career exploration, but gender and single child were not reflected.3.Parental rearing style significantly predicted the career exploration of college students.Paternal punishment had negative effects on environmental exploration, and maternal rejection-denial had positive effects on environmental exploration.Paternal punishment, favouring subjects, maternal emotional-warmth had positive effects on self-exploration.Paternal emotional-warmth,maternal punishment, maternal favouring subjects had negative effects on self-exploration.4.Ego identity positively predicted the career exploration.Family rearing style indirectly affected career exploration through ego identity.Ego identity served as a partial mediator in parental rearing patterns(paternal emotional-warmth,paternal punishment)and career exploration. The effect of parental rearing patterns(maternal emotional-warmth,maternal punishment)on career exploration was totally mediated by ego identity.
