The Influence Of The Visual Acuity On The Stroke Order Effect In Chinese Sentence Reading

Many studies have consistently results: There is a Chinese characters stroke order effect.First order parts is more important than after sequence components of Chinese character recognition.But little study about the cause of the important position of the first order parts.English sentence reading experiments(Inhoff,1989)prove that the English word for the first 3 letters have advantages visual clarity.Whether Chinese characters stroke order effect on the same principle with English reading is also affected by the visual clarity? This study was to explore the effect of visual clarity on stroke order,experiment 1 by eliminating the stroke portent effect of the left to explore the effect of portent of stroke order effect;Experiment 2 through puts on the right side of the stroke,deputy central sunken,explore the reading order(visual clarity)effects on stroke order effect.Experiment 1 and 2 are 2 * 2 two factors within subjects design,experiment 1 control preview mode(preview,no preview)and the way of omission(province before and after),the experiment 2 control reading order(positive sequence,negative sequence)and the way of omission(province before and after),analysis of saccade size,number of forward saccades,number of regressive saccades,fixation number,mean fixation duration,total sentence reading times,first fixation duration,single fixation duration,gaze duration,go-past time,to research the visual clarity on Chinese sentence reading effect of stroke order.When the delete 30% Chinese characters before and after stroke,the results showed that: Chinese characters exist stroke order effect,Chinese characters influence on the reading than before,after more;however,the a(omitted,masking mode)in 30%strokes when omitting the data Chinese characters,unable to prove the visual acuity of the stroke order effect significantly.Experiment two(omitted,reading order)to get the expected results,it was proved that visual acuity had significant effect on the stroke order effect.
