Entering university is usually considered to be a positive life event,but with the accelarating life pace mental stress from all aspects grows day by day,hence more and more people feel anxious.And our campus has been affected inevitably,which need us pay high attention to.Although moderate anxiety has a positive meaning in some sense of life,sustained highly anxiety not only affects the efficiency of learning,but also seriously threatens physical health and mental health of college students.College students with anxiety,if not severe,may suffer from depression,and not good at social communication,if severe,even commit suicide.The anxiety of college students not only influences physical and mental health,but also affects the social development and progress.Especially the college freshmen,who just entered university,are more likely to cause anxiety.Because they see things as one-sided,and have much problem with adjustment besides facing diverse pressure.Self-compassion is a relatively new field in the positive psychology.Since the concept was built,a large number of studies have confirmed the higher theoretical value and applicational value.It has significant relations with many positive emotions,and plays an important role in improving people’s psychological health level and enhancing happiness.In order to verify the relationship between self-compassion and anxiety,to understand the effect self-compassion have on anxiety,and thus a new way to improve the mental health of freshmen can be provided,this paper made a study of three parts:first,the investigation and analysis on the College freshmen’s self-compassion and anxiety current status;second,study on the relationship between college students self-compassion and anxiety;third,design developing group psychological counseling,to improve college freshmen’s self-compassion level by intervention,thereby reducing the anxiety level.Study one and study two selected 506 freshmen from some university as subjects,484 subjects were effective,having conducted a questionnaire survey.Study three adopted check experiment: 66 freshmen were selected from some university and they are divided into two groups.one as the experimental group(33 people),the other as the control group(33).The experimental group was conducted the development ofgroup counseling for eight times.For the experimental group lost three subjects during the event,complete 8 group psychological counseling data of 30 freshmen were adopted,so as the control group.The results were as follows:Study one showed that self-compassion level of college students are significantly affected by their gender,their major,but not by whether they are the only child of their family,whether they are from urban or rural areas,whether their family is rich or not;anxiety level of freshmen in college are significantly influenced by their family economic situation and their major,however,gender,one-child,urban and rural areas has no significant effect on it.Study two showed that freshmen’s self-compassion and self-kindness,common humanity,mindfulness,are the three dimensions having negative correlation with anxiety level,and self judgment,isolation,over-identified are three dimensions that positively correlate with the level of anxiety.Besides over-identified,self-kindness,sense of isolation and mindfulness are significant predictors of anxiety.Study three showed that developmental group counseling can significantly improve the level of self-compassion and reduce the level of anxiety.
