Linguistic Analysis Of Place Names In Zhanjiang

As geographical names carry abundant information about geographical,historical,linguistic etc,so the study of place names can provide some reference materials for the study of these disciplines.With the rapid development of economy,the communication between regions is more close,the study of place names draws more attention.Hence,the research of place names shows the trend of interdisciplinary and development.The study of place names in Zhanjiang,from both the perspective of toponymy and linguistics,is worth studying,because the current studies on geographical names in Zhanjiang are rare.This paper,will explore the place names in Zhanjiang,from the perspective of linguistics.It can not only fill in the blanks of the current studies,but more importancy,it also has language value.This paper first introduces the historical geography of Zhanjiang city,the current research status of geographical names in Zhanjiang.Then the author discusses the basic composition of geographical names in Zhanjiang from the syllable structure and place structure of geographical names.In view of the multi-dialect phenomena in Zhanjiang and the influences of Lingnan history and culture,this paper will analyze the words in Zhanjiang dialect from generic names words and proper noun words,and investigates the difficult words in proper noun from neologism,rarely used word,variant Chinese character and strange respectively.Affected by the historical Bai,the place names in Zhanjiang are kept at the bottom of the text,and the interpretation of guile is analyzed in this paper.Combined with the theory of cognitive linguistics,this paper will analyze the naming causes and renaming of geographical names in Zhanjiang from the diachronic and synchronic angles.Finally,combined with the results of the study to put forward suggestions on the work of Zhanjiang city.
