| This project is a translation report on a final award rendered by Singapore International Arbitration Tribunal(SIAT),in respect to a trademark dispute between a Singapore corporation named Sinwa Marine Pte.Ltd and a Chinese corporation named Dalin Sinwa Ship Supply Co.Ltd.This final award featured attributive clauses,post-positive attributives,nominalizations and passive voice,which posed great challenges during the translation process.Therefore this report mainly focuses on how to deal with attributive clauses,post-positive attributives,nominalization and passive voice.In the translation process,the author adopts three translation techniques:addition,division and conversion to address these challenges.Specifically,when dealing with attributive clauses,the author adopts the translation technique of division;while dealing with post-positive attributives,the author adopts the translation technique of addition;With respect to nominalization,the author employed the technique of conversion of nouns into verbs;As for the translation of English passive voice,the author converts it into Chinese active voice.This report is expected to make propose some effective ways to deal with the translation problems and to make a contribution to the author's future translation practice. |
