| Nominalization,as a linguistic phenomenon,is frequently employed in legal documents since it satisfies the need of accuracy and formality of laws,regulations and contracts.Therefore,in English-Chinese translation of legal documents,how to deal with nominalization is the key to the quality of the whole target text.In this translation report,the author tries to seek such proper translation techniques of nominalization as conversion,addition,omission and division to tackle the widely used nominalization,combined with examples in Patent Law 1984.The benefits of researching translation techniques of nominalization are not restricted to helping the translator clear up thoughts,and grasping the message of the source text,but are also evident in conveying the legal culture and promoting international communication. |
