The Buddhist Festival is developed from the Buddhist ceremony to commemorate and celebrate the important events in Buddhism.Since the introduction of Buddhism into China,the Buddhist festival has gradually emerged and prevailed in our country,affecting the development of our traditional festivals and being affect by Chinese culture,and gradually become a Chinese traditional festival.Tang and Song dynasties is an important period in ancient China and for the development of Buddhism.Buddhist Festival is a concrete reflection of Buddhism and the society in Tang and Song dynasties.The Tang Dynasty Buddhist festivals were influenced by political factors,more more prevalent in the upper society and have strong religious color.Festival activities show the unique characteristics of the Tang Dynasty which closely related to the strong national strength,prosperous economy and stable social order in the Tang dynasty.In the Song Dynasty,the Buddhist festival was more abundant and concise.The religious color was weakened in festival.The festival has economic function.It is inseparable with the development of Buddhism in Song Dynasty.After the development of several hundred years,Buddhism is transformed by Chinese traditional culture.The Buddhist faith has become a part of people's lives in China.The development of Buddhist festivals in Dunhuang as the same as the Central Plains in Tang and Song dynasties.The localization phenomenon generally exists in Dunhuang.The Buddhist festival has gradually become a festival with Chinese characteristics.
