Since the establishment of the Confucius Institute of Burundi University in July 3,2012,the scale of teaching has been growing.At present,there are 20 teaching centers and 6403 students totally,and the students have a strong interest in Chinese.But there are also some problems,first of all,limited course time,Simplifying curriculum type and textbooks;moreover,great teacher mobility and shortage of teachers' teaching theory and experience,resulting in some problems like the overuse of medium language,the separation of language and culture,and the lack of exercises;in addition,although students are interested in learning Chinese,the result is not ideal,and the skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing are not balanced.Especially in communication,some students have learning Chinese for two years,and passed the HSK3,but their spoken Chinese can not reach the corresponding level.The reason is complex,expect the course arrangement and faculty of Confucius Institute and students' own problems,there are also have the impact of the University of Burundi,Burundi religion,their economic level and other factors.Therefore,combined with the 5C standards of the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21 st Century(USA),doing this teaching design which pay attention to exercise,Communicative function of language,and the relationship between language and culture etc,to solve the problems in Chinese teaching in Confucius Institute of Burundi University.According to the students' feedback on teaching,summarize several suggestions,such as teaching content should have its focus,language training should be combined with practice,the language teaching should be combined with culture teaching etc,to provide some help to Overseas Chinese Teaching.
