Research On Solso’s Neuroaesthetic Theory Of "Conscious AWAREness"

Neuroaesthetics is a new rising interdiscipline,it aims to explore the inner neural basis of aesthetic events in cognitive neuroscience ways.Robert Solso is a pioneer in neuroaesthetics.By taking Solso ’ s neuroaesthetic theory of "conscious AWAREness" as the subject,then here could see the significance of neuroaesthetics on modern aesthetics.This paper has seven parts.The first is introduction,which defines the research objects and methods of neuroaesthetics,and presents some representative works of neuroaesthetic researchers abroad and their ideas.In the view of the background and academic experiences of many researchers,neuroaesthetics is not real aesthetics to some extent,which needs to be aestheticized further.While discussions on neuroaesthetics in China are still few in number,but researches named in "cognitive aesthetics" are impressive,its ways and approaches are same as neuroaesthetics.The second is the backgrounds and ways of "conscious AWAREness".The development of cognitive neuroscince,the deconstruction of dualism,the scientization of consciousness and the crisis in development of Aesthetics itself,all of these make binary opposition steps into monism.Scientific experiments and demonstrations have gradually stepped into the aesthetic research method system.There are tow main ways in Solso’ s research,cognitive neuroscience,anthropology and archaeology,to demonstrate in these two dimensions.In cognitive neuroscience,we can see the process of aesthetic occurrence,and how it could be.In anthropology and archaeology,we can see why it could be.The third is the explanation of connotation of "consciousness AWAREness",there are five elements in "AWAREness",attention,awake,architecture,recall of knowledge and emotion,and there are two levels in "AWAREness","nativistic perception" and "directed perception”,interacting together,which constructs the process of aesthetic occurrence.The forth part is the theory constitution of "conscious AWAREness",which are the co-evolution of art and brain and the aesthetics in vision-brain system.Aesthetic occurrence has "in-me" and "in-ob ject"these two parts."in-object" is energy,the basis of nature.Energy out of me is electromagnetic wave,while on me,it becomes biological electromagnetic energy.So energy is the bridge between "me" and"object"."In-me" is "eye" and“brain”,which is the basis of knowing the world for us.These three elements build the whole events of aesthetic occurrence,the nature and principles of aesthetics are also here.The fifth is the occurrence ways of "conscious AWAREness "."AWAREness" is limited by our physiological mechanism,our limited brain has determined we human to know the world in schema and prototype.We live in a changing nature with adaptation,living is the primary goal for human,which has determined that we must act in a most efficient way.Our brains and bodies,even the whole nature are all following the law of energy saving.And we mind working,the produce of our consciousness and concepts are in schema and prototype by and large.The sixth part is aesthetic practice of "conscious AWAREness".Solso had taken many criticism practices with“conscious AWAREness" theory on variant arts.Here takes Mona Lisa as the subject,unfolding "conscious AWAREness" intensively in aesthetic experience.And then,on the basis of“conscious AWAREness”neuroaesthetic theory,here explores an old aesthetic topic-"dissimilar qualities in painting and poetry" of Lessing,to inquiry what differences between painting and poetry on earth.The last is the worth and significance of Solso’ s neuroaesthetics.Firstly,neuroaesthetics has expanded the approaches of aesthetics,drawing experiment and demonstration into,which has made aesthetics get into scientization.Secondly,neuroaesthetics has extended the horizon of contemporary aesthetics.Aesthetics research here hasn’ t been limited in social science,but taken some natural science into its field,viewing aesthetic phenomenon as natural phenomenon again.Lastly,neuroaesthetics has developed aesthetic theory deeply.Neuroaesthetics has broken the bottleneck of binary opposition,undoing the predicament of the essence of beauty.It views aesthetics as a generant process,and takes itself in the vision of the nature,which has unified "me" and"object" in a real sense.
