Studies On Luo Binji's Novel Creation During The Period Of Cultural City Of Guilin

Luo Binji came to Guilin in 1940 and 1942 respectively,living there nearly for three years.Because of many factors like good timing,geographical convenience and good human relations,it was during the three years that Guilin became cultural city of reputation in China's rear area.During the period of cultural city of Guilin,Luo Binji created numerous novels,which not only represented the greatest achievement of his whole career,but also the first-class works in the history of modern Chinese literature.However,There is a little-known fact that his achievement in novel creation benefited greatly from the influence of cultural city of Guilin.On the basis of comprehension of his novel texts,this thesis systematically tidied how cultural city of Guilin impacted the creation of Luo Binji's novels,and the relations between various factors of cultural city of Guilin and the creation of Luo Binji's novels.This thesis was divided into three parts:In the first part,the author,from the perspective of "field",discusses the impacts of cultural city of Guilin on the creation of Luo Binji's novels,from several aspects such as the chaos in Guilin literary circle,Luo Binji's literary friends and his translation of and introduction to foreign literary works.The cultural city of Guilin was in its hey day when Luo Binji came here.The prosperity of the cultural city of Guilin didn't mean the prosperity of its literary circle,while Guilin literary circle was in chaos due to various factors.This chaos led Luo Binji adopt rebellious attitudes towards Guilin literary circle,from the artistic viewpoint,novel themes and creation spirit.Although the Guilin literary circle is in chaos,there were many like-minded scholars with Luo Binji.When Luo Binji associated with them,he was impacted a lot,forming his self-conscious sense of reader and sense of competition in creation aspect.To our attention,his sense of reader is different from the sense of reader in general meaning,which as what theorists of reception aesthetics said,the sense of reader often functions during creating works,while Luo Binji's sense of reader were usually before creating works.Luo Binji mainly told his novels or materials to different audience as stories,and according to the audience's responses,revised his novels for many times before creating his novels.In addition,the novel styles and character temperature of the translated literary works in cultural city of Guilin,had different influence in Luo Binji's creation.Even so,the influence is only the current,not the origin.Different from the stress on cultural environment in the first art,the second part is focused on the influence of natural environment on Luo Binji's creation.From the two aspects,the rain and the mountains in Guilin,the author made a discussion about the atmosphere,structure,character trend and the mentality of creating subjects of Luo Binji's novels.The feature of the rain in Guilin is incessant and continuous,which fit into the times atmosphere and then permeated in Luo Binji's novels,forming the novel atmospheres full of senses of symbol like dreariment and silence.The rain in Guilin often keeps company cloudy days,which functions as a connection between two obviously opposite worlds,and makes the structure of Luo Binji's novels tend to unite totally.Most of the mountains in Guilin exist side by side,rise straightly from the ground and disconnect with each other.This unique image usually offer people a sense of loneliness,which in accordance with Luo Binji's state of mind in Guilin,and the accordance deeply impacted his creation.What's more,Guilin,the mountain city,is in closed state,which permeate in the space and character emotions of his novels.As the rebel,Luo Binji's novel characters often chose to run away escaping from this depression caused by closed state.In the third part,the author mainly discusses the relations between Luo Binji's life experiences during the period of the cultural city of Guilin and his novel creation.During the period of the cultural city of Guilin,his life experience was fairly considerable,but only the love experience,war experience and the understanding of individual life integrated by various life experiences.How the life experiences as the most unique feeling enters the creating field,will test Luo Binji's ability to set up artistic aesthetic.Luo Binji not only fit his love and war experiences during the period of cultural city of Guilin into the use of colors during creating novels,but also his understanding of life was permeated in the creating method of "pause".It is noteworthy that "pauses" is originally a common method in plays,but Luo Binji applied the "pause" method to novel creation by improving and renewing the method.Specifically,the "pause" method means creating long or short space-time through instantaneous or prolonged silence,presenting characters' rich inner world in space-time,meanwhile including its own logic in that times.Therefore,from this sense,Luo Binji not only transfer the life experience into the ability of artistic aesthetic,but also it is the most excellent ability.
