| Stereotypes have been paid close attention by researchers from different perspectives.Occupational stereotype is one of the points that domestic and foreign psychological scholars have studieda lot.Occupational stereotypes include occupational gender stereotypes and occupational prestige stereotypes.The stereotypes of different occupations affect people’s professional values and career choices.In the past,college students were studied as participants.However,occupational values have been formed as early as the high school stage.Therefore,it is practical to examine the occupational prestige stereotypes of high school students.Experiment 1 used the implicit association test(IAT)to examine whether high school students have implicit occupational prestige stereotypes and the impact of gender on occupational prestige stereotypes.The Experiment 1 selected 60 high school students from a high school in Hubei province,and divide the subjects into two groups-male and female.The results showed that:(1)implicit effect in the implicit occupational prestige stereotypes task is obvious,that is,high school students have the implicit occupational prestige stereotypes,high school students agree with high prestige more than low prestige occupation;2)There is no gender differences in high school students’ implicit occupational prestige stereotypes.Experiment 2 used two implicit association tests(IAT),one was the Competence-IAT and the other was Warmth-IAT to examine the content structure of high school students’occupational prestige stereotypes.The Experiment 1 selected 60 high school students from a high school in Hubei province,and divide the subjects into two groups-Competence group,Warmth group.The results showed:(1)High school students are more likely to associate negative warmth and positive competence with high prestige occupations;(2)Compared with low prestige occupations,high school students are more likely to associate positive warmth and passive competence with Low prestige occupations.The conclusion is that high school students have the implicit mixed stereotype of the negative warmth-positive competence in the high prestige occupation,and the implicit mixed stereotype of the positive warmth-negative competence in the low prestige occupation. |
